Liberty Township is paying for cameras that record everyone who drives by. We want them removed.
Automated license plate readers photograph every car that passes โ not just suspects โ and store those movements in a searchable database run by a private company. We're Liberty Township residents asking the Board of Trustees to end the Flock program and remove the township-funded cameras. Pausing them and turning off outside sharing are interim safeguards, not the goal.
Three facts, all sourced
-
Public records confirm the deal: 10 Flock license plate readers at $30,000 a year, on a signed 36-month order that RENEWS AUTOMATICALLY unless someone gives 30 days' notice. Ending it takes a letter.

The written policy requires no reasonable suspicion to search, lets administrators grant outside agencies access at their discretion, says nothing about immigration enforcement, and provides one internal audit a year that the public never sees. Our request for the actual logs was denied.

The trustees approved the cameras as 'technology needed to provide police services' โ the word Flock never appeared in the motion โ and charged them to the township's OPIOID SETTLEMENT fund. On August 18, Oxford, in this same county, voted 6โ1 to terminate its Flock contract.
